I wasn’t going to go, it’s so not my thing. But very glad I did – to celebrate properly with colleagues the end of a roller coaster two years on the Creative Writing MLitt programme at the University of Glasgow. The programme’s focus on experimentation, hybrid forms and pushing boundaries was perfect for me (not for everyone!). I graduated with a Distinction, a headful of projects, and a great deal of gratitude that UoG took me onto the Masters programme on the basis of my writing – without a first degree or any background in the study of Literature. It was hard work, but so worth it.
